Helene Shiver was an honored member of Congregation Shaareth Israel, Lubbock Texas. Her life story is well known to our congreants, and was truly remarkable and inspirational! She was contacted by the Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation and a film crew paid her a visit in December 1997. On 13 January 1998 she received her copy of the six hour video. It was accompanied by a letter from the chairman of the foundation, and a personal phone call from Steven Spielberg. Congregation Shaareth Israel, Lubbock Texas is proud of the work Mrs. Shiver did in our community to educate and remind the public about the holocaust, and was pleased to see her represented in the Shoah Visual History archives. Sadly, she passed May 21, 2002 at the age of 73. Her obituary was posted by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
